Climate deniers have been making a lot of noise about a set of stolen emails from one of the world’s leading climate centers, The Universtiy of East Anglia. The spin they’re putting out is that the emails reveal what they always suspected, an evil global conspiracy.

13 years of e-mails, and this is the best they can do? More of the REAL story behind the non-story. Reference these links:

The Climatic Research Unit e-mail hacking incident, referred to by some sources as “Climategate”, began in November 2009 with the hacking of a server used by the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia (UEA) in Norwich.

Unknown persons stole and anonymously disseminated thousands of e-mails and other documents made over the course of 13 years. The university confirmed that a criminal breach of their security systems took place, and expressed concern “that personal information about individuals may have been compromised.”

Norfolk police are investigating the incident and, along with the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), are also investigating death threats made against climate scientists named in the e-mails.

Controversy arose after various allegations were made including that climate scientists colluded to withhold scientific information, interfered with the peer-review process to prevent dissenting scientific papers from being published, deleted e-mails and raw data to prevent data being revealed under the Freedom of Information Act, and manipulated data to make the case for global warming appear stronger than it is.

Climate scientists issued rebuttals and described the incident as a smear campaign, accusing the climate change sceptics of selectively quoting words and phrases out of context in an attempt to sabotage the Copenhagen global climate summit.

On November 24, the University of East Anglia announced it would conduct an independent review of the matter and subsequently announced that the CRU’s director, Professor Phil Jones, would temporarily stand aside from his post during the investigation.

    @dave4248

    Well, I …
    @dave4248

Well, I assume that they don’t support nuclear power for reasons other than CO2 emission.

  2. Guernicaman Said,

    Conservatives in …
Conservatives in the US do not believe in science. They probably think gravity is a liberal conspiracy to destroy Capitalism or Christianity. They’re NUTS. And to think anyone would even believe anything that comes out of their big fat mouths is just plain stupid. They don’t know anything about SCIENCE and yet suddenly they claim to be experts that can prove global warming is a hoax?

  3. Symbolc0729 Said,

    I shouldve left the …
I shouldve left the sueing thing out of it though you are right. The fact that people are insisting this has fully debunked global warming are just politicizing it which is to our detriment in the end.
My main problem is politics should not be a part of science. There should be very much caution in the way we proceed. Climate change is real noone denies it. AGW is a political tool. Just like global cooling. Interesting how some of the same peiople are still PROPHETING from doomsday.

  4. BoredInfidel Said,

    Symbolc0729, do you …
Symbolc0729, do you know what a red herring is?

  5. BoredInfidel Said,

    Provide evidence of …
Provide evidence of falsified data, or GTFO.

  6. BoredInfidel Said,

    “We breath this …
“We breath this stuff out and the Government wants to tax us for it.”

And you know well that this isn’t what they’re taxing. CO2 *IS* a pollutant.

  7. beechgrovejoe Said,

    You might look at …
You might look at NOAA’s web site. I have been trained to analyze data for over 30 years now. I do spend more than 40 hours a week collecting and analyzing data sets. It’s my job, But anybody can use modern computer equipment to analyze publicly available data. It’s just the IPCC won’t publish thiers. What are they trying to hide? But it’s just like a GW proponent to attack credentials you know nothing about. My skills are not at questions here, only IPCC’s conclusions.

  8. Raimakusa Said,

    Oh Faux. You’re …
Oh Faux. You’re getting too predictable now.

  9. Symbolc0729 Said,

You make a lot of …
You make a lot of good points of the flaws in my argument?
I wasnt the one who said that only serious scientists dont believe in global warming. Them being in the same field is implied by the author. Is Stephen Schneider a serious scientist? Wasnt he on the global cooling doomsday scenario 30 years ago? How many of the IPCC’s so called so scientists have PHD’s in a related field? How are scientists in related fields not considered serious when they are against AGW. Noone aruges climate change.

  10. dave4248 Said,

    The emails are …
The emails are clearly taken out of context. I still think that global warming is BS. But I think it’s BS because so few “global warmers” will endorse nuclear power, which has NO emissionsof CO2 NONE

  11. Nonoyawns Said,

    Meh, I’ve done some …
Meh, I’ve done some research on the topic, and as far as I can tell it’s just carefully crafted media sensationalism…
Besides, it used to be Global Cooling…
As a free thinker, I’m skeptical of the whole idea as there seems to be a lot missing essential evidence.

  12. rod1575 Said,

But is he a climate …
But is he a climate scientist?

  13. dangerouslytalented Said,

    Slowing the rate of …
Slowing the rate of cooling IS what is causing the climate to change. When the rate of cooling is slowed, the nights get warmer, which means the temperature has a higher base to rise from, which means that the daytime temperatures can get hotter.Look at the nighttime temperatures. They are going up.

  14. rod1575 Said,

    Contiued
    “Not one …

    Contiued
“Not one of them traps heat (CO2, Methane, Oxygen, Nitrous Oxide), they merely slow the rate of cooling, water vapour far more effectively than the rest combined.
The earth is NOT a greenhouse, the IR spectrum window is permanently open”
This is from people who know the facts and study it.

  15. rod1575 Said,

    This is from a …
This is from a website called “Green World Trust”
“Why the tropics are warmer at night than the desert, water vapour. CO2, makes virtually no difference. That is why it is damned cold in a desert at night, and why camels have a thick fur coat, because they are adapted perfectly naturally for the desert, and the very cold nights”

  16. rod1575 Said,

    This just shows how …
This just shows how much our governments care about the environment. They seem to be serious about cutting CO2 then in another breath they want to cut down the forests for money.

  17. rod1575 Said,

    I’m not the one …
I’m not the one that is crying at the moment. Its you the warmists.

  18. Tyrtamus Said,

How does it feel to …
How does it feel to be the conservative media’s bitch?

  19. MrNDSteinbach Said,

    In all honestly, I …
In all honestly, I don’t care much for the subject of global climate change. I’m just neutral on the whole subject…

  20. rod1575 Said,

    This is only a 160 …
This is only a 160 years of record keeping. The earth has been here for 4.5billion years. Have a look at the history of the earths climate before 160 years and you will see temperatures much hotter than today.

  21. frankjohnson123 Said,

    Unequal …
Unequal distribution was predicted, and is in ways even worse. This could cause severe weather conditions by the differential temperatures. It also has to do with the unequal distribution of CO2 around the world. I’m sorry because you’re Australian (according to your profile, at least), but most of the top 30 CO2 contributors are in the northern hemisphere. That rate may have been the case in the past, but the equilibrium has shifted with our relatively small CO2 density.

  22. rod1575 Said,

    And shouldn’t trust …
And shouldn’t trust it, just like you shouldn’t trust everything that comes from MSM. Do you own research so you are not blinded by political propaganda and you will see what it really going on with man made climate change.

  23. rod1575 Said,

    “they were only …
“they were only using the tree data that matched all the other data anyway” so when it didn’t match after 1960 because the tree ring data showed a decline, it was removed.
Why would you remove it. The tree ring data was good enough up to 1960 but not after because it showed a decline in temperature.
